This summer, Leeds City Council’s Families First Team (part of Children and Families) are supporting the Zero Waste School Uniform Exchange by collecting unwanted uniform at Merrion House.
The collection point will be on the ground floor between the entrance barriers and the lifts. These donations will be taken to events happening over the summer where families will be able to collect free, good quality, used uniform.
As well as supporting our environmental aims, this will also support families financially as the average school uniform costs £344 for a secondary school student.
The campaign is looking to collect items:
- skirts,
- shirts,
- trousers,
- pinafores,
- PE kit,
- school shoes, and
- school bags.
Please can these be washed beforehand and in good condition as they will be taken straight out to the pop up events.
Note: Unfortunately we aren’t able to collect logo school specific uniform from this collection point. Please check the map for your specific school collection: Map – Leeds School Uniform Exchange (leedsuniformexchange.org.uk)
They are also collecting scientific calculators and maths sets. If you have any to donate please can they be placed in a separate bag and labelled.
If yourself, family, friends would benefit from support with school uniform please check for your local pop up shop: Community Schemes – Leeds School Uniform Exchange (leedsuniformexchange.org.uk)
