WalkSafe app pilot in Leeds

Last week saw the launch of the WalkSafe app pilot in Leeds. LCC encourage you to download it for yourselves and spread the word amongst your families, friends and networks.
This app allows your trusted nominees to see where you are and when, it can alert them if you do not arrive home when you are expected to, direct you to safe places and venues and it can even share recent crime statistics with you so that you can make informed choices about where to go. The app is free and can be used 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The attached flyer contains the QR code to enable you to download the app.
Although the original concept was born from a desire to reduce violence against women and girls, the app is for everyone – whether you are travelling to and from work during anti-social hours, visiting a strange area or are a student new to the city – the app provides reassurance for the individual concerned and also their friends and family.
