2021 Census

The decennial census is almost upon us.

Households across Leeds and its surrounding towns and villages, will soon be asked to take part in the nationwide survey of housing and the population. It has been carried out every decade since 1801, with the exception of 1941.

Information from the digital-first census will help decide how services are planned and funded in your local area. This could mean things like doctors’ surgeries, housing or new bus routes.

Households will receive a letter with a unique access code in the post, allowing them to complete their questionnaire online. Paper questionnaires will be available on request. Census day is March 21.

Consultation – Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) Parkway Station proposals.

Message from WY Combined Transport Authority

We are writing to make you aware that we will soon be launching a period of public engagement regarding the Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) Parkway Station proposals.

The LBA Parkway is a West Yorkshire Combined Authority led scheme to provide a new rail station on the existing Harrogate Line, between Horsforth Station and the southern end of the Bramhope tunnel. The Parkway Station will help ease current congestion and associated air quality issues by improving access by public transport, by encouraging fewer people to drive to the airport. Another major aim of the Parkway Station is to increase sustainable travel to Leeds and beyond with the provision of the park and ride facilities which encourage transfer to rail and reduce car vehicle kilometres driven. This will again contribute to reducing congestion and associated air quality issues. The station will have the potential to provide walking and cycling routes from the highway network and connect into the existing footpath network to the east for Cookridge. This will give residents in the local area the opportunity to access the station by cycling and walking.

The station will also provide an interchange to serve the proposed employment hub which will further facilitate development, economic growth and regeneration in the area.

Further information on the scheme including details of how residents can get involved in the engagement will be available on our webpage from Monday 18 January until 21 February. Please click here to visit our webpage.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 precautions, we are unable to hold any face-to-face events as part of this engagement. However, any residents would like to talk to a member of the project team about the proposals you can contact us via the methods below.

Leeds bin collections update from Leeds City Council

Leeds bin collections update from Leeds City Council

We still have about 110,000 bins across Leeds to collect that were missed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday due to the snow and ice conditions.

Crews will be working an extra day today (Sunday) to do all they can to catch up and empty as many of those 110,000 as possible.

Thank you to Veolia and HW Martin’s for opening their facilities today for us to take the black bin and green bin waste to.

If your street was missed on one of those days, please leave your bin out and we will try our best to get it emptied.

If we don’t manage to get to you today we will keep trying until Wednesday. But if your bin hasn’t been emptied by then, please take it back in until your next scheduled collection day for that colour bin.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support for the crews in these difficult times ?????

?? Please note that all 8 Household Waste and Recycling Centres are open and available to take your excess household waste to for free. You must book a Covid safe visit through:

Pharmacy Delivery Charges & Pharmacy Delivery Scams

Boots and Lloyds have started charging for their delivery service but everyone else has kept it free. Certain patients will be protected from this but that is down to the discretion of each company.
There is also a scam where scammers are contacting patients directly to tell them the government and local pharmacies have now started charging for prescription deliveries and they are taking payments over the phone. Pharmacies will never contact patients in this way so patients should be warned not to give out any payment information if they receive this message.
There is an national volunteers service that patients can call if they have problems collecting prescriptions. This is not available same day but can be useful if a patient is not in too much of a rush. The number for that is 08081963646

Coronavirus Vaccine – NHS Guidance

If you wish to know about the Coronavirus vaccine please read the NHS guidance below.

Covid-19 Vaccination Guide for Adults

Chevin Medical practice are asking residents to avoid calling the practice about the vaccine and have put the following message on their website.

“You will have seen on the news that the NHS is preparing to roll out a vaccination programme for COVID-19. Before any vaccines are approved for use they go through a strict process of clinical trials and safety checks. Your GP practice is working with other NHS providers, and our healthcare partners, so that we are ready to offer the vaccine as soon as it becomes available and is approved for use.

Vaccines will be offered from a number of different locations in Leeds to make sure everyone who needs a vaccine is able to get one. We will share these details with our patients as soon as we know.

Please could we kindly ask you to avoid calling the practice for information about the vaccine as we cannot provide any further details or book anyone in for an appointment to receive a vaccine. We are experiencing high call volumes currently, calling for the vaccine may stop someone who needs urgent medical help getting through to us.”
