Consultation on Proposed Disposal of Parish Council Land
Invitation to submit objections or representations
The Parish Council is considering the disposal by sale of a parcel of land in its ownership. Before any final decision is made, the Council is inviting views from residents, local organisations, and other interested parties.
Land proposed for disposal
Location: Well site adjacent to Rose Cottage, Occupation Lane, Bramhope, LS16 9HR
Approximate size: 0.1 acre
Current use: Rented as a garden plot to Rose Cottage, Occupation Lane, Bramhope

Purpose of this consultation
The purpose of this consultation is to provide the public with an opportunity to comment on, support, or object to the proposed disposal before the Parish Council determines whether to proceed.
Reason for the proposed sale
The Parish Council is considering the sale on the basis that the land is surplus to operational requirements. Any proceeds from the sale would be retained in an earmarked reserve to support the future refurbishment of The Knoll playground on Breary Lane, Bramhope.
The land is a former well site and has been rented at a peppercorn rent to the owners of Rose Cottage, who have maintained the area as a garden plot for at least 30 years.
Due to its size and location, the land is considered to have limited practical use other than as an extension to the garden of Rose Cottage. The Parish Council will obtain two RICS valuations to establish the market value of the land, after which it intends to negotiate the sale with the owners of Rose Cottage.
How to submit an objection or representation
Any person wishing to object to, support, or comment on the proposed disposal should submit their representation in writing by Friday 19th September 2026.

What happens next
Following the close of the consultation period, the Parish Council will review all representations received. The Council will then decide, at a properly convened meeting, whether to proceed with the proposed disposal, amend the proposal, or take no further action.
