The first phase of the Yorkshire Water main replacement works at the Harewood House junction have been completed slightly earlier than planned

This means that phase 2 will be implemented ahead of schedule on Harrogate Road A61 tomorrow (14^th May) close to the junction of Fortshot Lane under 2 way, manually controlled traffic signals

The work will progress northbound to the Wike lane junction and should take around 5 weeks to complete

Yorkshire Water will have teams working 7 days a week to ensure that the works are completed as quickly as possible

has done in the past year and plans for the coming year. Displays on Parish matters and from local organisations. This is your opportunity to raise any issue about life in Bramhope and Carlton.

The water burst has been repaired but there are areas of consequential damage in the carriageway that will require repairing before the road can be fully reopened

The road will remain closed until tomorrow morning.

All being well, Yorkshire Water should be in a position to safely open up one lane of traffic under 2 way traffic lights from around 6am

The lights will remain in place until the works have been completed – which is currently estimated to be late Friday /early Saturday

Yorkshire Water are aware that this road forms part of the Rob Burrows Marathon route and LCC will be working closely with them throughout to ensure that the road is fully opened before the event

We are emailing to provide you with advanced notice of the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon/Half Marathon taking place on Sunday 11th May 2025 and the road closures being implemented around the city to accommodate this.

Leeds Marathon Route Specifics

The 2025 Leeds Marathon will start on St Michael’s Lane and finish inside Headingley Stadium. The route will head out via Cardigan Road, Victoria Road and loop around Woodhouse Moor towards Leeds city centre. Runners will then complete a loop by Leeds University before using Otley Road (towards Otley crossing Lawnswood roundabout) > Eccup Lane > Kings Road > Leeds Road > Creskeld Lane > Arthington Lane > Pool Road and through the centre of Otley via A659 Boroughgate, Kirkgate, Bondgate and Gay Lane before then taking the climb up Leeds Road and Otley Chevin heading back towards Headingley. Runners will then turn onto North Lane > Cardigan Road and finish inside Headingley Stadium.

Road Closure Information

Road closures will be implemented from 04:00 on Sunday 11th May to facilitate the event build around St Michael’s Lane and will be re-opened no later than 18:00. Road closures around Cardigan Road and North Lane will then be implemented from 06:30 to facilitate further event build. Road closures around the route will then be implemented from 07:30 – 09:00.  Roads will re-open on a rolling basis when safe to do so with the final closure on route re-opening for 16:45. Please also note that parking suspensions around the route will come into place from 18:00 on Saturday 10th May; vehicles may have to be moved for safety purposes if in contravention of the suspensions on the Sunday morning. We have had fantastic support over the years from businesses, churches, schools and others around the route and if you would like to get involved again or get involved for the first time with the event we would very much welcome your support. Whether that be providing entertainment, a cheer point or providing some sort of refreshments on route please do let us know.

Leeds will be hosting Ironman Leeds UK event on 27th July 2025.

This event will have an impact on travel around the city, it is not coming directly through Bramhope, however due to the road closures around the city there is likely to be additional traffic coming through the village on the diversionary routes.

Bramhope in Bloom would like to welcome you to our Spring Fair & coffee morning to be held in the Village Hall, Old Lane, Bramhope, LS16 9AZ, on Saturday 12 April 2025 between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Entry will be free plus tea/coffee and cake.

It’s going to be a fun day for everyone.

Twiglet Percy Piglett will meet you at the door.

There will be lots of new lovely prizes for the raffle and tombola.

There will be a plant stall, and a fresh cake stall.

Come and treat yourself to a hand massage and/or get your nails varnished by a young lady from Leeds Beauty College.

A schoolgirl from Bramhope will be making and selling her children’s gem bracelets and there will be stalls selling earrings and key rings plus a local artist with his paintings.

The children will have a very special stall including an indoor word treasure hunt! Not difficult I assure you.

There will be a stall selling ‘pocket money’ items for children.

There will be name mummy and daddy duck and colouring pictures. Easter eggs for prizes.

We would prefer you to bring cash due to limited availability of a card reader.

So do come and join us on this fun day.
